Seattle Sounders coach SigiSchmid has praised Clint Dempsey for his great career following the player’s announcement that he will be retiring from the game. He said that it was an honor for him to have coached such a player and that he was one of the best players that he has ever worked with.
With the focus of attention returning to the California Stadium on Thursday, Los Angeles Football Club LAFC would be looking to continue their strong run at home. They are unbeaten in nine games but they cracked under pressure on Sunday against Minnesota United FC, losing 5-1.
LA Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid said that he wants to see his team improve defensively after the mistakes they committed in the match against DC United. Despite playing with three at the back, LA Galaxy conceded 2 goals and could only earn a point in the game against DC United.
Sigi Schmid said that he was not happy with the way his team has defended especially in the second half. He said that they conceded a cheap goal on a poor clearance and that the second goal was conceded because his players allow the opposition to much time on the ball. In the ongoing 2018 CONCACAF Champions League, Major League Soccer teams are ahead of their La Liga MX counterparts going into the last eight. The three MLS teams defeated their Mexican rivals in the opening leg of the games. And they are expected to finish off the start in the return leg.
Seattle Sounders have announced that Preki will be their new assistant coach for the 2018 season. The announcement was made last Friday. This is a great move by Seattle Sounders as Preki is a former MLS coach of the year after he won the title with Sacramento in 2015.
He unexpectedly left Sacramento in 2016 after a good season, and it was expected that he was going to move to England and work in the Premier League. However, he will disappear from the radar until last Friday where the announcement has been made.
