KREIS PRAISES STRIKERS
Real Salt Lake manager Jason Kreis has praised the forward line up in his team by saying that they have been largely responsible for the impressive start to the season for his club. Real Salt Lake have made a strong start to the new campaign and they are currently top of the table after having taken 34 points from their opening 19 matches. They already have a three-point advantage over second placed Dallas. Players like Robbie Findley, Joao Plata, and Devon Sandoval have been hugely impressive.
Olmes García was recently named as the MLS Player of the Week in recognition with his performances. After the recent 3-1 win over LA Galaxy, Kreis said that he has been extremely overjoyed with the performance of his forwards. They have not only been important to the team in terms of scoring goals, but they have also done their fair share of tracking back as well. This has allowed the team to win back possession and go on the offensive sooner than before.
All the four strikers in the team were involved in the match against LA Galaxy, but Kreis has said that tiredness will not be an issue for his team when they take on Charleston Battery in the US Open Cup game.
“It is so critical to the way that we play and the way that our forwards put in that type of effort to gain us ground. Even if they don’t win the ball, if they’re up there pressing defenders to knock the ball over their own end line, or over the sideline, now we’ve gained a ton of space. And as good as we can be in possession, that means a lot. If we can be in their half the field possessing it and creating chances, that means a lot,” said Kries.

YALLOP TEARS INTO PLAYERS
San Jose earthquakes manager Frank Yallop has revealed that he tore into his players during the halftime of the match against Toronto FC. The team was coming into the match on the back of a winless run for the last six matches. It has put them out of the play-off position after just 11 matches in the campaign. There was real need for three points from the match against Toronto and they achieved it exactly with a spirited performance in the second half to win the encounter 2-1.
San Jose earthquakes came into the half-time trailing Toronto by 1-0 following a goal from Braun in the 14th minute. Yallop said that he spoke like Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and it seemed that the hairdryer treatment worked because the team was able to complete a stunning comeback in the second half. It did not take long for them to equalise as Jahn scored in the 48th minute. They managed to complete the stunning comeback in the 81st minute following a goal from Wondolowski. This victory is the first that the club has achieved in the last six matches.
This victory is also extremely essential ahead of the next weekend’s match with Seattle Sounders.
“I meant business when I spoke at halftime. It’s my job to make sure they know how I feel. I just said to them, ‘We cannot let games like this slip by, where we don’t give everything we have.’ It was, collectively, a meek performance [in the first half]. And I didn’t accept that,” said Yallop. “It doesn’t come often, but it comes when it’s needed. And it was needed. It was just great to see it spill over out there on the field,” said the goalscorer Wondolowski. The win moves San Jose earthquakes closer to the play-offs.
