The LA Galaxy have been quietly building their roster as they look to make a big impact in this campaign after failing to make the playoffs last season. according to reports in the USA, the club have acquired the services of highly rated defender Diedie Traore.

The French defender had been highly regarded by the club after playing for the LA Galaxy II side last season. The 20-year-old was discovered in an LA Galaxy II Open tryout where the club allows young players across the country to participate in a trial.

MLS Rankings In Soccerex List

The financial contribution of Major League Soccer is improving as can be seen from the Football Finance 100 report issued by Soccerex. This report has compiled a list of hundred clubs across the world based on a comprehensive analytical study. There are five main factors considered which are playing assets or players, tangible assets owned by the clubs such as training centers, stadium, the potential for investment by the owner, cash in bank accounts and debt in net amounts.

Ranking has been done based on the score created out of the five factors for each club; the top hundred clubs have been ranked on the basis of these scores. This year’s list sees 14 clubs of MLS in the top 100 which is one higher than the listing seen last year. Among them, LA Galaxy is highest ranked along with Seattle Sounders and New England Revolution, all of which have positions are in the top 30. Seattle Sounders has tangible assets with a total value of $295,117,170; this is highest among all the MLS clubs. Orlando City is ranked 51st and it is 11th among the total 14 clubs of MLS.

Garber Celebrates The Most Competitive MLS Campaign

Don Garber, the commissioner of Major League Soccer have hailed 2018 as the most competitive season for them since he has appraised the state of North American League during the finals of MLS Cup. Garber praised the finalists of MLS Cup, Portland Timbers, and Atlanta United as he talked about the topics that included league expansion, the probable changes to the playoff formats of MLS Cup, and the global transfer market.

Garber has stated that he guesses that they might end up with something which is a little than what they have now. He refused to talk about the specifics of the pending discussion amongst the owners of the club in the following week. However, he has stated that the aim of the changes is going to be to make the consistent season more important.

Sounders FC With 3 2018 MLS Awards

The MLS made an announcement on the finalists for End of Year Awards 2018 and Sounders FC is in the nomination list of 3 major categories. Stefan Frei, the goalkeeper, and Chad Marshall, the defender are the two players among the finalists for Allstate MSL Goalkeeper of the Year and MLS Defender of the Year. Osvaldo Alonso the midfielder is among the 3 finalists as far as MLS Comeback Player of the Year goes. Within the next few weeks, the winners of all honors would be announced. The finalists have earned maximum votes during polling of 3 major voting groups which includes existing MLS players, MLS Clubs, and Media members.

Chad Marshall has won the title of MLS Defender 3 times in league history and has also achieved a defensive unit ranking 2nd in the league. Marshall has made great achievements in his career and on 21st October, he was known as the 4th player and 2nd field player in the MLS history. He appeared in 400 games and crossed the 35,000 minutes mark.

Alphonso Davies: MLS Record-Breaker Heading To Bayern Munich

In July 2018, it was announced that Bayern Munich had signed Alphonso Davies for a first $ 13million, making him the most expensive player ever bought from Major League Soccer. He is 17 Davies, who will be 18 in November, will move to Germany from Vancouver Whitecaps in January in a deal that could ultimately be worth $ 22million.

The wing has become a sensation in North America, but having gone from refugee to record-breaker, it is reasonable to say that he has not followed a typical path. Davies was born in a refugee camp in Ghana, his parents among the 12,000 who fled Liberia in their home country’s second civil war. They moved to Ontario in Canada when Davies was five before settling in Edmonton, where the youth started playing football, first for Edmonton International and then Edmonton Strikers.
