According to reports, the South American, who plays for Brazilian Premier League club FC Santos has seen his club agree a deal with Toronto to make the deal happen. The attacking star will now join the Reds in a deal said to be in the region of $6.5 million. Xésar Luis Merlo, a trusted South American journalist, recently reported that the deal is very close and all that remains is the paperwork to be provided and the players to sign on the dotted lines.

However, the fee to be paid to Santos will not only be for the Brazilian club alone, as Soteldo’s former club Huachipato, a club in the Mexican league, will take some part of the transfer fee. It is so because of the clause that was contained in the deal that saw the striker swap the Mexican league in favor of a move to the Brazilian league to join Santos.

The deal has not yet been confirmed or announced by either club, as they await the transfer to be completed before making an official announcement. Globo Esporte, a Brazilian media outlet, recently arranged an interview with Soteldo, and the attacker revealed in the session that he is relishing the opportunity to play for Toronto FC.

His addition to the Toronto squad will come as a huge boost for the team, given how the 23-year-old would provide more attacking threat to the side.
