In the ongoing 2018 CONCACAF Champions League, Major League Soccer teams are ahead of their La Liga MX counterparts going into the last eight. The three MLS teams defeated their Mexican rivals in the opening leg of the games. And they are expected to finish off the start in the return leg.
The following day Toronto FC won 2-1 against Tigres UANL. The South Americans were ahead in the second half courtesy of Eduardo Vargas. However, Jonathan Osorio helped stage the comeback just before the final whistle. The game was quite interesting, living up to its billing despite the cold weather at BMO Field. The game is unarguably the most interesting of fixtures in the quarters.
Seattle Sounders completed the MLS trouncing of the Liga MX when they defeated Guadalajara 1-0. Clint Dempsey netted the solitary goal to hand full points to the American outfit. The Liga MX side tried to get a goal as well but goalkeeper Stefan Frei did a good job on the night, pulling four saves.
The MLS sides would have to continue with their strong start ahead of the return fixtures. The last time they didn’t have it this good though but three MLS teams had strong starts against Liga MX sides. It was the 2013/14 season. San Jose Earthquakes has a 1-1 draw at home against Toluca, Sporting KC won at home 1-0 against Cruz Azul and LA Galaxy defeated Tijuana at home. Eventually none of the MLS sides made the next stage. It can be that brutal.
