Seattle Sounders have announced that Preki will be their new assistant coach for the 2018 season. The announcement was made last Friday. This is a great move by Seattle Sounders as Preki is a former MLS coach of the year after he won the title with Sacramento in 2015.
He unexpectedly left Sacramento in 2016 after a good season, and it was expected that he was going to move to England and work in the Premier League. However, he will disappear from the radar until last Friday where the announcement has been made.
Before making his career in management, Preki was a reputed footballer that played for both Everton and Portsmouth during 1992-1995.
After leaving his post at Sacramento, it was expected that the coach would be going to Leicester City who was looking for a manager. However, he will fail to land the job, and the Leicester coaching job was given to Claudio Ranieri.
Preki said that he is delighted to be back among the staff of an MLS team and he is looking forward to having a great season with Seattle Sounders. He said that there is some great potential in the team and that there is no doubt that they will be challenging for trophies.
He said that it was a pleasure for him to be working with Brian Schmetzer and he will be looking forward to devising together a training plan that will help bring the club forward.
The Seattle Sounders head coach abounded in the same sense and said that it was a great asset for the club to have a coach as Preki within their ranks. He said that the players are the ones that will benefit the most from the presence of Preki within the club.
